Continue down the road of demystifying two and three-part harmonies with Melanie Ida Chopko and Carl Oser, so you're ready to add extra melodic pizazz the next time you're singing with friends.* Using the building blocks of major and minor chords, we'll learn how to create harmony goosebumps and add parts to compliment melodies. By the end of the workshop, you will have mastered singing a two-part harmony, have a solid footing in a more jazzy three-part arrangement, and understand how to create harmony magic at home while singing along to your favorite songs. We will also keep exploring the fundamentals of the connected voice - posture, breathing and support ( ie,'What the heck is my diaphragm again?!')

Pre-requisite - the ability to sing Happy Birthday in tune. Please email Melanie with any questions about joining in!

*No actual hot tub field trips included. But we love invitations!

STUDENTS SAY:

"I felt genuinely transformed by the harmony workshop offered by Melanie and Carl. Together they managed to de-mystify music theory and to give me hands-on tools for my own experimentation in the future. The class was educational, playful, and fully engaging. Highly recommended!" - Liz

"Melanie taught me that my voice is an instrument, like a guitar or piano, and then she showed me how to practice and play it. I know that with effort and intention, I will grow my voice and find its power and character. And, I gained confidence to sing in harmony after only a few hours!" - Kenny

Melanie Ida Chopko is a vocalist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who believes in the power of creativity and people singing together. She began formally studying music as an adult at the California Conservatory of Music and the Puget Sound Guitar Workshop, and sits with teachers everywhere from home studios of Berkeley, houseboats in the San Rafael harbor to patios in Rio de Janiero, Brasil. In October 2016 she released her debut EP of original music, Yellow Blue Alizarin. Teaching both adults and teens at the Freight & Salvage and Acme House of Music, she anchors her teaching style in humor and the creative, spiritual principles of Julia Cameron's The Artist Way and Kenny Werner's Effortless Mastery.

His life mission is to empower individuals of all musical backgrounds to realize their potential as creative human beings and expressive musical artists.
