These turbulent times call for good political songs! Some of the best political songs change minds and hearts by connecting us with issues on a personal level, inspiring empathy and shifting attitudes. Other political songs “preach to the choir,” adding fuel to social justice movements and stirring people to action. What’s the difference? How do you make sure your songs have the desired impact? In this hands-on workshop we’ll learn techniques for translating our passion for social issues into powerful songs that hit our listeners on a gut level. Bring an instrument (if you play one) and a notebook!

With more than a dozen albums and over a thousand shows between them, Ty Greenstein and Ingrid Elizabeth of Mouths of Babes bring three decades of combined songwriting experience to their workshops. For years, their respective bands Girlyman and Coyote Grace captivated thousands of loyal fans as they criss-crossed the country and toured with the likes of the Indigo Girls and Dar Williams. Now, as Mouths of Babes, Ty and Ingrid have distilled the very best of the songwriting, humor, and musicianship of their previous groups into a new power duo that brings more style and depth than ever before. Catch their show at The Freight on Sunday, May 1.
