Lulo Reinhardt, grand-nephew of Django, brings Latin-flavored rhythms and melodies to his take on swing. He first played in the Mike Reinhardt Sextett and went on to co-found Django Reinhardt & the Heartbreakers, I Gitanos, and the Lulo Reinhardt Latin Swing Project. Young Brit Mike Dawes is known for his lightning speed and deft, guitar-tapping percussion. Andre Krengel, one of Germany’s most sought-after guitarists, has played many styles, including rock and pop, blues, jazz, and swing. San Francisco’s Brian Gore started bringing great guitarists together two decades ago at Strings, a private venue here in Berkeley, and has since expanded into clubs and concert halls. The San Francisco Chronicle has called his concert series “one of the most important showcases for contemporary finger stylists” and praised the “ravishing lyricism” of his playing. "I've found that audiences like the synergy that comes from breaking down the boundaries between genres," Brian says. |
