It’s time once again when The Freight & Salvage is invaded by the music of British rock from the 1960’s. ‘THE FREIGHT GOES BRITISH REVUE #8 – DAVID BOWIE, The Legend

Every year since 2009 BIN Productions has hosted a show honoring one of Britain’s iconic rock groups, performed by current & former students of Chris Solberg. This year the honor goes to the eclectic artist DAVID BOWIE! After much study & lots of rehearsing, each group will play at least three Bowie tunes, plus songs of their own choosing.

You want British rock mixed with American Blues? The BBC (BERKELEY BLUES COALITION) is your ticket to rock. This is BBC’s 3rd Freight Goes British, and they get the dancers up early and often! Performing music from Led Zepplin, Cream, The Spencer Davis Group, David Bowie, John Mayer and more, they get the house rockin’ every time. Featuring The Freight’s own Celeste Kopel on vocals and keyboard, with Nathan Phillips (lead guitar/vocals), Barry Weinstein (rhythm guitar/vocals), Kit Newkirk (bass/vocals), and the very solid JV Fowler on drums. Dancers be ready !

THE LILLIES will be returning for their show at The Freight, and we expect they’ll be coming back many times with the amount of talent this band has. This group will impress folks with the amazing ability to perform Bowie song arrangements that are very complex. The Lillies features Kira Gelbaugh (bass), Daniel Pliskin (vocals), Eamon Hartigan-O’Connor (keys), Lily Dawson (lead guitar) and Leo Beck on (drums), It will be awesome!

Veterans of several shows at The Freight, THE WHITECLIFF RANGERS are very diverse in their selection of American Blues based music. From the Traveling Wilburys and Buffalo Springfield, to Littlefeat and Van Morrison, they cover a wide variety of styles guaranteed to please. Featuring the Scott brothers Bart & Robb ( guitar & vocals), plus Jim Black (guitar, vocals, and harp) , Donn Spindt (drums & vocals), and Bob Lewis (bass & vocals), they have mastered Bowie’s songs for this show with attitude and edge.

New to the show this year is Livewater. Featuring 3 young ladies with plenty of energy in their playing. With Nicole Bloch (drums) supplying the power, Sophia Kaufman (bass) filling the bottom end, and Noam (guitar/vocals ) singing melodic words, this will be a great set !

Formed in the Fall of 2016, Supermoon consists of music students from Miramonte High School. They take their sound from influences like The Strokes and Muse, blues bands like The Black Keys, and the eclectic tracks of British art rock pioneers like David Bowie. The band’s talent is not limited to the instruments used on stage. The band includes Carter Blanchard (Bass), Andrew Monteilh (Drums), Jeremy O’Neill (Guitar and Trumpet), Nathan Sharafian (Guitar), and Olivia Zalevsky (Vocals). They are classically trained multi-instrumentalists. Sharafian is a lifelong piano player in addition to his talents with a guitar, O’Neill, an avid bluegrass musician who plays mandolin, as well as Blanchard and Zalevsky, both pianists. Their addition to the “The Freight Goes British Revue” stable is a real find!

Lastly…don’t forget our amazing FINALE BAND…a sum of ALL the musicians performing this evening…30 or more performers take the stage in a rock-orchestra of epic proportions, closing the show with rousing renditions of the biggest hits & memorable songs…this time by DAVID BOWIE!

Please come support young talent and share in their adventure performing on a big stage in the nicest venue in the East Bay!

Much thanks to Tall Toad for their lobby display each year.
