Marcelle Davies-LashleyMarcelle Davies-Lashley comes to the Freight with an ensemble of stellar musicians and a new album, Easy to Love, that lives up to its title with a rich fusion of gospel, soul, and jazz that showcases her gorgeous vocals. Growing up in Brooklyn, the youngest of seven children with parents from Sierra Leone and Liberia, Marcelle started singing in the church choir when she was five.

Mouths of BabesTy Greenstein of Girlyman fame and Ingrid Elizabeth of Coyote Grace have joined forces in a new duo, Mouths of Babes, to make music that mixes folk and soul, celebration and healing, sob stories and a story of great love. They have a new EP, Faith and Fumes, just about ready for release, and they’re hitting the road to share their music with the world.

The Stray BirdsThe Stray Birds are a young folk-roots trio from Pennsylvania farm country who play as if they’ve been making music together forever. Their harmonies are gorgeous and gritty, and their deft instrumentals always serve the song. “Clearly these are players with chops, songwriters with a fierce command of their craft. But they also seem to have a grip on when to lend a hand, and when to let the songs fly on their own.
