Krüger Brothers“The Kruger Brothers are just about as fine a band as I have ever played with,” said the late Doc Watson. The Bluegrass Journal says, “The Krugers are nothing short of magnificent.” Brothers Jens and Uwe Kruger left their home in Switzerland to pursue life as street musicians and met their “other brother,” Joel Landsberg, in New York City. Jens won last year’s Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass Music.

Rabbit RabbitRabbit Rabbit is Carla Kihlstedt on violin and vocals, and Matthias Bossi on drums, percussion, keyboards, bass harmonica, and vocals. The wife-husband duo are founding members of the iconic bands Tin Hat, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, 2 Foot Yard, Causing a Tiger, The Book of Knots, and Fred Frith’s Cosa Brava, and they’ve played with such artists as Tom Waits, Madeleine Peyroux, Tracy Chapman, and St. Vincent.

MatutoMatuto is something else! A guitarist from South Carolina, steeped in bluegrass and blues, folk and jazz, moves to New York City and meets an accordion master with deep roots in swing, bepop, funk, and rock, and the two of them travel to northeastern Brazil on a Fulbright and immerse themselves in the local music – forró, chorinho, samba, maracatu, and frevo.
